How Does Crimestoppers Work?

FVCS follows the guidelines and directions set out by Crime Stoppers International in its day-to-day operation. Our toll-free tips line (721-4444) are available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, taking completely anonymous tips on any criminal activity.

An essential part of the Crimestoppers program is the guaranteed anonymity of people who provide information. Each caller is assigned a number when calling in–in most cases, the caller’s identity is not known to the volunteer who answers the call. The informant is told to call back at a specific time to learn if s/he has earned a reward. The Crimestoppers Board of Directors decides which tips receive rewards.

The name of the informant is not revealed unless he/she testifies at a trial, in which case, the caller’s identity would become public knowledge.

Crimestoppers supports our community by providing law enforcement with anonymous tips that help solve crimes.

Crimestoppers protects all of us from criminal activity and empowers us to make a difference in our community.

If you have information that could help solve a crime, please call Crimestoppers at 721-4444. Crimestoppers guarantees anonymity and provides cash rewards of up to $1,000 for tips that are used to solve a crime.

How We’re Funded

Crimestoppers is managed by a volunteer Board of Directors, and funded solely with a fundraising concert every fall.
